Health and Care Worker Visa

The Health and Care Worker Visa is designed for qualified professionals, including doctors, nurses, allied health practitioners, and adult social care workers, who want to work in eligible healthcare or social care roles within the UK. This visa is part of the Skilled Worker Visa program and provides a pathway to UK settlement after five years.

Key Features of the Health and Care Worker Visa

Eligibility: Open to doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and individuals in adult social care. 

Dependents: Dependents of most health and care workers can join them; however, those in care worker roles (codes 6145 and 6146) are no longer eligible to bring dependents. 

Settlement: Provides a path to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after five years of continuous residence. 

Requirements for a Health and Care Worker Visa

Age: Must be 18 or older. 

Qualification: Be a qualified doctor, nurse, allied health professional, or adult social care worker. 

Eligible Job: Work must be in a specified occupation code within health or social care. 

Sponsorship: Have a valid Certificate of Sponsorship from a UK-approved health or care employer. 

Salary: Must meet both the minimum salary threshold and the “going rate” for the job code. 

English Language: Proficiency of at least CEFR Level B1 (equivalent to IELTS 4.0). 

Financial: Sufficient funds to support oneself without public aid. 

Additional Documentation: Includes a criminal record certificate (if working with vulnerable populations) and a TB test if required by your country of origin.

Allied Health Professionals: 2221 (Physiotherapists), 2222 (Occupational Therapists), 2223 (Speech and Language Therapists), and others 

Social Care Workers: 2461 (Social workers), 6135 (Care workers and home carers), 6136 (Senior care workers) 

Other Health Roles: 2251 (Pharmacists), 2253 (Dental practitioners), 2254 (Medical radiographers), and more.
