A legal requirement for UK companies to hire and sponsor international workers.

Intra-Company Transfer Visa

The Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Visa route allows multinational companies to transfer overseas employees to their UK branch. At Highfin Solicitors, we provide clear, reliable legal guidance for businesses and professionals navigating the ICT visa process, ensuring compliance with Home Office requirements and minimising delays.

This visa is designed for established employees of international organisations who are being relocated to a UK branch or subsidiary. It is suitable for senior staff, managers, or specialists with knowledge essential to the business.
While the Skilled Worker visa has replaced several routes, the ICT visa continues to apply in certain situations. Individuals already on an ICT visa or switching within the same route may still extend or modify their stay under this category.

To qualify for an ICT visa, applicants must:

  • Be employed by an organisation that is a licensed UK sponsor.
  • Have worked for the sponsor group overseas for a minimum of 12 months (unless earning over a specified salary threshold).
  • Be offered a role in the UK that meets skill and salary requirements.
  • Have a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from the UK entity.
  • Meet English language requirements (for certain routes and extensions).

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Obtain endorsement from a UK-approved endorsing body
  • Demonstrate an innovative, viable, and scalable business idea
  • Meet English language requirements (CEFR level B2)
  • Prove they can support themselves financially without public funds

As of the latest Home Office guidance:

  • The minimum salary must generally be £45,800 per year (or £23.46 per hour), though exceptions may apply depending on the role and individual circumstances.
  • Job roles must be at RQF Level 6 or above (graduate level).

For those earning £73,900 or more, the 12-month overseas employment requirement may be waived.

We offer specialist legal assistance across every stage of the ICT process:
